Prime Day Results + AudioCraft + Sales Drag

Strategy is best met with innovation

finish the week strong.

Welcome to the end-of-week wrap-up where we share tools, tips, and ideas that help drive your growth efforts forward. This week we highlight Amazon’s Prime Day, the launch of AudioCraft by Meta, and preventing sales drag.

Prime Day Results

As we’ve mentioned in past newsletters, consumer confidence is a big signal for those working in sales, marketing, and growth. In a recent article, Advertisers spent more heavily for Amazon Prime Day — here’s what the numbers say, by Sara Karlovitch Amazon reportedly sold 75 Million more items than in 2022! Totaling 375 Million items sold in 2023.

What caught my attention though was the increase in sales due to ad campaigns. There was a 5.9 times increase in sales attributed to ads vs. the 30 days prior. We all know that the “pay to play” on social and sales platforms like eBay, Amazon, Meta, etc. are only increasing.

Marketers are willing to spend but they need to see a clear ROI on their investment and ad campaigns. What I look forward to seeing is how many Amazon merchants or brands gained a first-time customer on Prime Day and now try to engage with those folks to increase LTV.

Launch of AudioCraft by Meta

I think we all are getting a little bit of Ai fatigue, am I right? But as a creative, I had to stop and take a look at this new tool from Meta. A quick note of what the thing does is you can type in the music via text and it will generate the music or sound.

Meta made this tool and code open sourced so stay tuned, no pun intended, on how developers will take this tool and make it easy for folks to create music or sounds quickly and with low effort.

The use cases are vast but for composers and small businesses looking to create soundtracks or background music, it will be a quick win. In the meantime, a collection Facebook has had for some time for audio that is free to use across Meta products is their Sound Collection.

Preventing sales drag

High-pressured sales mixed with a lull in the economy are leaving sales leaders and sellers in limbo. Gartner has reported that 89% of sellers feel burned out and 54% of sellers are actively seeking a job change. Those are some wild stats but if we know any sales folks or are in sales we can totally understand the pain points.

Recently, I read The Challenger Sale by Matthew Dixon, and as a marketer learned a lot about how I can help enable sales within my company. One aspect of getting a deal done that I found insightful was enabling our sales leaders to innovate at the deal level. Obviously, this depends on the business you are in and the margins but it doesn't solely apply to costs or the sale itself. It also applies to how the deals are being made and how they get done.

Gartner has some more insights on empowering sellers, offering development opportunities, and more. I’ve attached the link below.

Just remember your sales force is going through it—and if it’s you on the sales side don’t worry you are not alone. Open up a dialogue with your team and invite them into the innovations you might be able to apply to sales efforts.

Thanks for joining us this week, and remember, you are almost there. Keep up the hustle!

Cheers,
